Humboldt Housing & Homelessness Coalition

The HHHC will conduct a Point-in-Time count of people experiencing homelessness during the morning of Friday, Jan. 23, and volunteers are needed to assist. Scan the QR code or visit humboldt.pointintime.info for more information and to sign up.

The biennial count, known by many as the PIT, is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requirement. Numbers from the count are used by the State of California to allocate funding to counties to address homelessness and housing.

The Humboldt Housing & Homelessness Coalition (HHHC) is a Continuum of Care comprised of several organizations, service providers, developers, government agencies and leaders, faith-based organizations and community members dedicated to ending homelessness.

The HHHC's vision is that all members of our community will have access to safe, decent, affordable housing. Our mission is to facilitate countywide collaboration to build awareness, support, partnerships and funding for shelter and affordable housing and to coordinate the Continuum of Care for people experiencing homelessness.

The HHHC was established in 2004 and includes service providers, local government agencies, advocates and others who are interested in helping people move out of homelessness. The group does not have a staff and is not officially incorporated or organized. The county provides some administrative support, but most projects are accomplished by volunteers.

Members of the HHHC work together on specific issues (policy, input into the general plan, working with law enforcement, etc.). The HHHC is sometimes asked to provide input on issues to the local jurisdictions. Any public statements must be agreed upon by the whole membership.

The HHHC shares ideas, coordinates services, increases communication and helps identify service gaps within our communities. We administer the Point-in-Time Count, the Homeless Management Information System, and provide several training opportunities throughout the year.

The HHHC holds a general meeting every other month. These meetings are open to all concerned.
