WIC services include nutrition and health information, monthly food benefits for healthy foods, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other community resources.
Eligibility requirements
- Families who have incomes at 185% or less of the federal poverty level (working families may be eligible) or receive Medi-Cal, CalWORKs (TANF), or CalFresh (SNAP) benefits; participants must reside in California.

Using your WIC Card at the Farmers’ Markets
You have the option to spend your monthly WIC fruit and vegetable cash benefit at the Farmers’ Markets year round! Don’t have the new WIC QR code card? Call 707-445-6255 to request one.
Want to spend your monthly food and vegetable benefit at the grocery store? Swipe your card as usual at any WIC authorized store.
Humboldt County WIC offers a summertime cash value benefit worth $30 to be spent at Farmers’ Markets by scanning the WIC QR code card at a farmers’ booth. You may buy fruits, vegetables and fresh-cut edible herbs with these benefits. These benefits are issued on a first come, first served basis. You can see your seasonal benefit balance on the CA WIC App. WIC usually begins issuing these benefits in June, and they expire at the end of November.
Farmers that take the CA WIC Card and/or the Farmers’ Market benefits will have a sign that says “WIC and Senior Benefits Welcome Here” at their stall.
You can also check for markets on the CA WIC App or myfamily.wic.ca.gov/Home/WICFarmersMarkets. Do not sell, offer for sale or offer to exchange these benefits.
Report lost or stolen WIC Cards to your WIC office.
If needed, you can file a complaint against a farmer or farmers’ market or local agency by completing the farmers’ market complaint form found at cdfa.ca.gov/mkt/meb/complaint_process.html.
