Community Activities
Each year, the Bridgeville Community holds a Fire Safety Day, often in conjunction with an event called Bridgefest, which features live music, food, and local vendors, as well as games and a flying saucer contest. At this event, the Firewise Board and FSC distribute safety materials at an information booth and the Bridgeville VFC holds firefighter demonstrations.
Some other efforts of the Firewise Board and FSC include organizing community clean-up days for maintaining defensible space, a chipper program for disposing of debris from fuels reduction, and participation in the Fire-adapted Landscapes and Safe Homes Program, which is a rebate program that reimburses landowners for reducing hazardous wildfire fuels on their properties.
Action Tools
Bridgevillle's Firewise community wildfire assessments (PDF) and action plan (PDF) are excellent tools for the community to learn about wildfire hazards in the area and collaboratively identify actions to reduce those hazards.
