The Humboldt County Library Welcomes Your Support
Your generosity helps the Humboldt County Library continue to learn, grow, and serve our community. Whether you choose to donate books or make a monetary contribution, your support strengthens library services, expands access to resources, and enriches the lives of readers of all ages.
Make a Monetary Donation
Your financial support helps the library grow, innovate, and serve the community. Whether you want to enhance programs, expand collections, or ensure long-term sustainability, there are several ways to make a meaningful impact.
- Donate to the Humboldt Library Foundation
- Donate to the Friends of the Redwood Libraries
- Donate to the Humboldt County Library online through ACI Payments, the official payment website of the Humboldt County Library.
- Visit your local Humboldt County Library branch to make donations in cash or check.
Donors of $200 or more
Substantial donors who have not asked to remain anonymous will be included in the Board of Supervisors' Library Agenda.
Buy-a-Book Campaign
If you would like to donate money specifically for new books, you can give through the Humboldt Library Foundation’s Buy‑a‑Book Campaign. You may donate in honor of a person, an organization, or a special occasion, and the book will include a label with the honoree. You can also sponsor a full "shelf" or "wall" of books to make an even greater contribution to local readers. Support the library by participating in the Humboldt Library Foundation's Buy-a-Book Campaign.
Donating Books & Other Media to the Eureka Library
During Eureka Library open hours, up to 2 bags of books or other materials may be dropped off at the circulation desk.
For donations of more than 2 bags of books or other materials, the Friends are available to accept them on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10 a.m. to noon, before the library opens. Please bring your donations by the garage door on the front left side of the building, near the handicapped parking spaces, not the main entrance.
For donations to other library branches, please give them a call.
What to Donate
The Friends of the Library Welcome Donations of the Following Materials
- Hardcover and paperback books in good condition
- Audiobooks on CD
- Music CDs and vinyl records
- DVDs and video/computer games
- Comics and graphic novels
We are Unable to Accept the Materials Below
- Books which are missing pages, smelly, warped, torn, stained, mildewed, damaged, wet, or in poor condition

Disposing of unusable items costs the library money and reduces funds available for new materials. Please sort your donations carefully to ensure that items of the types listed above are not included.
The following guidelines apply to donated materials
- All donated materials become the property of the library. Items may be added to the collection or given to the Friends of the Redwood Libraries for sale. If you would like your donation specifically considered for inclusion in the library collection, please inform the library staff. Visit the Collection Development Policy page for more information.
- Donations that are not suitable for the library collection or for Friends’ book sales will be discarded.
Receipts are Available
Receipts noting the number of items donated are available on request. A determination of the fair market value of donated materials for tax purposes is the responsibility of the donor.
