Wing Sail

  • Description:  A sculpture that resembles a large, curved wing or sail, made of bent wooden ribs with white canvas stretched across them. It is mounted on a redwood wall, behind which a Percy Bysshe Shelley quote is painted in large white letters: “In the golden light’ning of the sunken sun, o’er which clouds are bright’ning thou dost float and run. Like an unbodied joy whose race is just begun.”

The Wing Sail is a sculpture made of a wooden frame and stretched canvas, mounted on a redwood wall at the ACV Airport Terminal’s second-floor mezzanine. It has been displayed there since the terminal opened in 2009. Behind the sculpture is a quote from Percy Bysshe Shelley: “In the golden light’ning of the sunken sun, o’er which clouds are bright’ning thou dost float and run. Like an unbodied joy whose face is just begun.”
