The HFD/OES strives to develop programs and processes for the protection of the Hoopa Indian Reservation and the community of Hoopa. This is accomplished through an aggressive suppression and prevention program. Helping landowners and working on Tribal Lands, department personnel assist with land clearing, utilizing mechanical methods as well as burning. In addition, the HFD/OES conducts public presentations, fire prevention drills and talks in the local schools, and constantly shares information with the community about the prevention of catastrophic fire. An active Facebook presence helps keep followers informed about emergencies and where to find support.
