County Parks & Facilities

Overview

Humboldt County Parks are comprised of a diverse set of public lands containing unique natural and cultural features, with 16 park sites, five miles of paved bike paths and a combined total acreage of over 900 acres. The mission of Humboldt County Parks is to provide high-quality outdoor recreational experiences in a safe environment. Humboldt County Parks provide opportunities for a wide variety of recreational activities including camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, boating, beachcombing, clamming, hiking, bicycling and wildlife viewing.

Reservations

The Pamplin Grove group campground at Van Duzen County Park will be available for reservations in 2026 from May 1 through October 30. Humboldt County Parks will start taking reservations by phone on Tuesday, Jan.  2, 2026, at 8 a.m.. People seeking to make a reservation at Pamplin Grove can call 707-445-7651 starting at 8 a.m. on Jan. 2. Calls will be answered in the order they are received. If the reservation specialist is busy, callers will be added to a list and call-backs will occur in they order they were received. The payment deadline will be established at the time of booking. The maximum stay is seven days. Humboldt County Parks reserves the right to cancel reservations (with refund of advanced payments) for any reason.

The gazebo and adjacent lawn at Freshwater Park is available for group reservations from April 1 through November 30, 2026. People seeking to make a reservation for the gazebo area at Freshwater Park can call 707-445-7651.

Note: Regular site camping is available on a first-come, first-serve basis (reservations are not accepted) and is $30 per night.

Campground Rules and Regulations
Rules and regulations are developed for the safety and convenience of all park visitors, and to protect the parks for the enjoyment of future generations. Violations of these rules can result in citation and/or removal from the park. Site-specific rules and regulations may be posted at the park.

  • Quiet Hours are from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m.  Loud music and stereos are prohibited at all times
  • Check-out time is 1 p.m.
  • Only fee-paying campers are allowed in the campground between midnight and 5 a.m.
  • Maximum stay limits apply in any 30-day period.
  • Fires are restricted to the fire rings and grills provided. Portable metal barbecues are acceptable.
  • Dogs must be on a leash and under control at all times.
  • Vehicles are restricted to roads and parking lots. The speed limit within the campground is 10 mph.
  • Shooting of weapons including bows and arrows, air pellet guns, paintball guns, potato guns and slingshots is strictly prohibited.
