On Dec. 13, 2022, at about 10:27 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 1100 block of Freshwater Road in Freshwater for the report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies contacted an adult male victim and an adult female suspect, identified as 34-year-old Amber Charmaine Mentink. During their investigation, deputies learned that Mentink and the victim were involved in argument, during which Mentink reportedly physically assaulted the victim.

Mentink physically resisted deputies while being taken into custody. While in custody, Mentink became combative, physically assaulting a deputy.

Mentink was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of battery against a cohabitant (PC 243(e)(1)) and resisting/obstructing a peace officer (PC 69).
