3D Printing Now Available at Humboldt County Library in McKinleyville 


The Humboldt County Library is proud to announce the addition of a state-of-the-art 3D Printer at the McKinleyville Library. 

Thanks to the generous support of the local community and Friends of the McKinleyville Library, the 3D printer is now available for public use.

Open to all Humboldt County residents, the 3D printer offers creative opportunities for learning, innovation and personal projects. Whether you are a student designing a prototype, an artist exploring a new medium or simply curious about 3D printing, the question is: what will you create?

How to Participate

A Bambu Lab X1C 3D printer is available for all library visitors at the McKinleyville Library, located at 1606 Pickett Rd. in McKinleyville.

Use of the 3D printer is open to all Humboldt County residents who have signed a user agreement and liability waiver. 

To ensure equitable and responsible access, use of the 3D printer will be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis.

3D printer reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance, and reservations are limited to one per month. Reservations can be made in person or by calling 707-839-4459. Please note that the McKinleyville Library has priority use of the printer and may cancel or reschedule reservations as needed.


Usage Rules

All library equipment is intended to be used for civic, cultural or educational purposes. 3D printers may only be used for lawful purposes. The maximum print time will take three hours with a build volume of 256 x 256 x 256 mm.

3D printers may not be used to create material that is: 

  • Illegal or prohibited by any local, state or federal law
  • Unsafe or dangerous including, but not limited to guns, knives, weapons of any kind
  • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the library environment
  • Under copyright, patent, trademark, or otherwise legally protected
  • Linked to smoking paraphernalia
