Health & Human Services Posted on January 06, 2020

Interested in learning more about the Mental Health Services Act or MHSA? The Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services will host public meetings to share information about and gather input for the MHSA three-year plan.

The first community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Community Center in Eureka (1000 B St.). Spanish interpretation is available if requested by Wednesday, Jan. 8.

The second meeting is planned for Friday, Jan. 24, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Blue Lake Community Resource Center (111 Greenwood Ave.). RSVP by Wednesday, Jan. 22. Lunch will be provided at both meetings for those who RSVP.

Community input is a vital component of developing the three-year plan, which will outline Humboldt County’s MHSA-funded programs from 2020 through 2023. Feedback can also be provided online. Go to https://forms.gle/A8nZZq46otS3CGgZA to fill out a short survey about the MHSA.

In 2004, California voters passed Proposition 63, known as MHSA, which placed a 1 percent tax on personal incomes greater than $1 million to fund the development and expansion of mental health services for children, youth, adults and older adults.
