The Humboldt County Department of Public Works is gearing up for its busy road construction season and encourages residents to stay informed and plan ahead when traveling.
Several road and infrastructure improvement projects are scheduled across the county this spring and summer. While these repairs are essential, they may lead to occasional traffic delays.
Be Prepared
Spring and summer are busy months for Humboldt County Public Works crews, with numerous projects to improve roads and bridges across the county. Community members are encouraged to prepare for possible delays and help keep road crews safe.

- Monitor local National Weather Service weather conditions at weather.gov.eka.
- If you are driving, keep your gas tank full and always wear a seat belt.
- If you are biking, plan your route, wear a helmet and use bright or reflective clothing to stay visible.
- If your trip includes a construction zone, check for alternate routes ahead of time and plan accordingly.
- Drive slowly and expect delays in road construction zones.
- Give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination.
- Follow all posted speed limits, detour signs and road closures.
- Always slow for the cone zone to keep road crews safe.
Road repairs take time, and your patience is appreciated as road crews work to make improvements.

Report an Issue on a County Road
Humboldt County roads need a lot of work and Humboldt County Public Works acknowledges residents may encounter a maintenance issue on a county-maintained road. Community members are encouraged to submit a service request if they experience a maintenance issue. A request for service on a county road may be submitted to the Public Works Department’s Roads Division by calling 707-445-7421 or placing a request for service online.
